Different forms of violence are interconnected. They often share the same root causes, and are frequently experienced simultaneously by individuals, in families, and in communities. Understanding the overlapping causes of violence, and how these causes are linked to other issues such as substance abuse, provides us with the opportunity to better develop strategies and systems to protect people and communities from violence in all its forms. This presentation will provide an overview of the latest research on the connections between different forms of violence, and approaches for building resilience among individuals, families, and their communities’ to prevent all forms of violence.
